Pretty Russian Girl

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By Mishael Mordinson There is nothing more enticing or alluring than the prospect of finding that one true love. Perhaps the only thing better could be true love with a catwalk model. For thousands of forlorn, abandoned, rejected or just fed up with feminism’ men in Western Europe, the USA, Canada and Australia, all trails seem to ‘lead eastward’ as they search for the love of their life. The marriage agency business in Ukraine is booming. It was born shortly the fall of the wall, but received its biggest infusion of life about 7 years ago with the rise in popularity of the Internet. Ukraine is second after Russia in numbers of women using the Internet superhighway to find love and romance and, perhaps, a better life. But how many of these women are for real? How many wants love, marriage and a little one in a baby carriage? Surprisingly enough after talking with a cross-section of men recently arrived in Kyiv from Western Europe, the USA and Canada on marriage tours, not as many as you would think are interested in pursuing marriage. These men, who had been corresponding with the woman of ‘their dreams’ for many months, were dismayed to find that once on the ground in Ukraine, a different story was on the verge of ruining their fairytale quest for a Slavic princess. There were three com?plaints this reporter heard from all but two of the men. Number one: I. The girl said she had second thoughts and didn’t want to get married so soon. 2. The girl said she had no plans to leave Ukraine. 3. The girl ‘appeared’ interested only in going out and having a good time. “It was just a bit strange to me,” says Curtis, a computer programmer from San Jose California. Curtis had been corresponding with a girl named Svetlana in Kyiv for about 6 months before deciding to take the plunge. “Everything appears o.k. on the surface, but when I want to talk about specifics, plans for the future, she backs off. I mean I am only here for 7 days, I don’t have a long time to put things together, it was really kind of frustrating,” he says. Curtis also says the passion and heartfelt feelings that were in the emails and letters before his arrival were missing in the face to face contact. “There was something peculiar about our first and second meetings. I didn’t get the impression that I was talking to the same girl I had been writing to for a half of a year. She said she didn’t want to get married so soon and that she was nervous about relocating to the USA,” said Curtis. Those two points are the sticklers. Yes, marriage is a big step, and one should be a little nervous about broaching the subject, but shouldn’t that be a consideration before a person enlists the services of a marriage agency, not after the guy you have been writing ’sweet nothings’ to shows up at Boryspil Airport? The first two points were put to American businessman and longtime Kyiv resident Mr. Brett Ousley, himself President of Kiev Connections. “I am a single guy, and have used agencies in the past, and some of the problems mentioned are what led me to open up my own agency”, he says. Brett says many of the plethora of agencies in Ukraine are in the business to collect and sell as many names and addresses as they can. This ‘killing the golden goose’ mentality in the marriage agency business is bad for the legitimate operations who genuinely try to match the appropriate people for a solid relationship. “I remember this one time, years ago, I was on a date with a girl from some agency in town,” says Ousley, “and after I pick her up we start walking to this cafe in order to get to know each other better. As we are walking, she nonchalantly blurts out that she can not be out late because her husband will be home in a while”. Needless to say, Ousley politely ducked out. “She was amazing, she like said I hope this doesn’t preclude us going out tonight? I said well, ‘what’s the point’, see ya later,” says the disgusted bride hunter. Ousley says this experience was such a shocker that it has helped form a cornerstone of his operation. Through screening of the applicants, his suspicions were well founded. What some people don’t consider as that this is a ‘win win’ situation for the ladies,” says Ousley. “It costs them nothing. The risk is the man’s. She waits for the agency to call, or she collects the letters, gifts and dates all for free, while the man uses his one vacation a year, buys a ticket, lodgings in Kyiv and lays his heart on the line, so that is why we make sure our girls are on the level,” says Ousley. Ousley says that he periodically reviews a girl’s status, and that some are rejected, or removed from his roster if they are found to be just in the game for a good time and not serious. Another agency that specializes in personalized matchmaking is the Mordinson Agency of Kharkiv. Mordinson is a premium agency specializing in some of ‘the most attractive women in the Kharkiv region, and goes to the trouble of listing it’s success stories on the web site, with actual photos of the couples it has produced. “Our girls are all interested in getting married and we go to the trouble of individually tailoring a program for the man who is visiting, so he feels special and the process goes smoothly,” says representative Darya Mordinson. “We don’t conduct these uncomfortable ‘meat-market’ socials that some of the bigger agencies conduct,” she says of the classic marriage agency meets where ten guys will find themselves facing a room full of up to sixty girls. “The meetings we offer are all individual and only with girls or women who are definitely interested in the man so that disappointment is who have dealt with the mass marketers of names and addresses. You can tell such sites right away when you load up their page on your browser. You see about ten to fifteen photos per page, nearly identical wording on the bios, normally only credit card payment info and no one person’s name at the top who you can talk to if you have a problem. If you are surfing for an agency, a sign that one is more credible than others would be the listing of a phone number and a manager’s name. This tells you there is someone accountable, and if possible before you send any money or write any romantic thoughts, spend the dollar it costs per minute for the long distance call from abroad and touch base with the manager. From your conversation you will be able to tell if this is a ‘take the money and run’ operation or one that will work with you in attempting to find the match of a lifetime. The address sellers are the weak link in the marriage agency chain.? Marriage agencies do attract negative publicity, and are still seen as somewhat exploitative, but it is worth remembering that they exist everywhere. However, the financial differentials between Western husbands and Slavic brides has left the practice open to attack. In the late 1990s a feminist legislator from Washington State proposed a law wherein background checks should be required of men enlisting the services of a marriage agency overseas. Allegedly responding to cases wherein eastern European and Asian women were bought as mail order brides and abandoned or abused in the United States, the legislation was thrown out, largely due to the lack of concrete cases of abuses. In fact, many agencies make a point of listing success stories of ‘happy ever after’ couples on their sites, and guard against getting involved with any Western client deemed ‘undesirable’. In general, potential bride hunters should be careful when choosing an agency and ask those sensitive tough questions before hopping on a plane or forking out a lot of money for that one ’special girl’. There are many genuine ladies looking for long-term involvement, but there are also many girls more excited by the prospect of ‘no strings’ fun with comparatively well-off foreign man. Happy hunting! Atkins vs. Go-Carb Diet: Which Is Best?

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By Sacha Tarkovsky In terms of books sold, perhaps the Atkins diet is the most successful of the modern age. It obviously would not be so successful if it did not work and work quickly. However, there are several cons as well as pros to the Atkins Diet, and we shall compare it to the Go-Carb Diet (good old carbohydrate diet), and give you the opportunity to chose for yourself. Due to the notoriety of celebrities using the Atkins diet, and the promotion of the book itself, it has become very well known and widely practiced, at least for a while. The advantages claimed over a Go-Carb diet are: Not all carbohydrates are disallowed. For example, those rich in dietary fiber are allowed as the fiber is not digested. This gives the dieter a great degree of choice Similarly as so many foods are permitted, there is greater variety in this diet, so the thought is, the risk of cheating is reduced. Thus, you keep with the diet till you achieve your goal. The diet permits you to eat the food you like best, such as meat, cheeses, creams, and other high fat foods. The diet lets you eat large quantities and so you are not becoming hungry, and Because the body thinks its starving, you burn fat for energy. On the other hand, there are some real criticisms, which are: As mentioned above, but looked at differently, if you burn fat for energy instead of carbohydrates, you will have increased uric acid and ketones (you enter into a state called ketosis), which the body takes for starvation. Certainly you will lose weight, but can also end up with kidney problems, migraine and even gout. Eventually you will also burn muscle tissue, which is not desirable at all. An often quoted study published in the New England Journal of Medicine providing evidence the Atkins diet works, in fact, concluded that after dieting for a significant amount of time (one year) the results of the Atkins and Go-carb diet were about the same. That same study also mentioned (no real need to) that most people dropped out of both diets. The Atkins diet, with high amounts of saturated fats (Omega-6) in proportion to poly-unsaturated fats (Omega-3) raises blood pressure, creates all kinds of inflammations, has a negative effect on cholesterol levels and can lead to cardiovascular disease. As the Atkins diet is low in complex carbohydrates found in fruits and vegetables, it can also lead to chronic constipation and reduced colo-rectal cancer prevention. Leaving which diet is better and for whatever reasons aside, we would like to state that the only real diet is a radical change in your eating habits. This must be linked to daily exercise. Here are some real positive suggestions, based on a Go-carb diet, that if followed, you will lose weight and keep it off. In fact, instead of choosing one diet over the other, pick the best parts of both; and 1.Chose only lean protein, and not more than one gram per kilo of your weight daily. So if you weigh, for example, 75 kilos, you can have a maximum of 750 grams of quality protein daily. Make as much of this fish or non-red meat as possible. 2.When you use daily products, chose those which are low in fats; as cottage cheese, low-fat milk and sour cream. 3.Add as many fruits and vegetables as you can to our daily diet. Herein lies the secret. It is usually a dietary change, as most overweight people are eating few or any daily fruit and vegetables. 4.If you can, eat 5 smaller meals than 3 larger ones. If you need to snack, make sure its on fruit. 5.Careful of your fats. Reject all trans-fatty acids (good-bye McDonalds!) and use pure oils such as Extra Virgin Olive oil, or special margarines made without Trans-fatty acids. 6.Go-carbs are best. Whole grain breads, lentils and other pulses, non-fried and salted nuts, and only natural cereals. Avoid generally all processed food if you can. If you combine the above with daily exercise, you will lose weight so the Go carb diet is the one to choose. Lizzie McGuire: History for Party Trivia

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

By Gail Leino Lizzie McGuire was the offbeat, incredibly funny Disney Channel television series that aired from 2001 to 2004. The show was based upon the life and times of an average middle schooler named Elizabeth Brook McGuire a/k/a Lizzie McGuire who was played by Hillary Duff. Like all 7th and 8th graders, Lizzie was a self-conscious student who was worried about every day things. Things Lizzie McGuire worried about included: what clothes were in style; how to act so Ethan Craft might notice her; how to deal with Kate and the cheerleaders who didnt seem to like her very much; and how to be a good friend to Gordo and Miranda, her best friends. Also included in the television series was Animated Lizzie who was a visual interpretation of Lizzie McGuires conscience and inner thoughts. Gordo was Lizzies best friend since they were one day old. He had a complete and total crush on her that, of course Lizzie McGuire never even noticed. He was kind of the sarcastic one-liners and a lot of good advice. Miranda was the rebel of the threesome always challenging those she felt were doing wrong. Lizzie was always the one who had Mirandas back. The series storyline was based upon the middle school adventures, and sometimes misadventures, of Lizzie, Gordo and Miranda. The show was cutting edge in that it not only dealt with topics of crazy teachers, embarrassing parents or bullies in the schoolyard; but, it also took on some really strong and timely topics like anorexia nervosa and depression. Bottom line is, preteen girls love Lizzie McGuire and that makes her a great theme idea for a party. With books, mangas, and dolls still being produced and merchandised, Lizzie McGuire is still a living force within the pre-teen communities. Her music, her style and her good spirit seems to keep girls looking to her for advice on how to be cool and have a fun time. The Hidden Relationship Abuse

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

By Alisa Chagnon Everyone is quite familiar with the problem of physical and verbal abuse in relationships. It sometimes seems to be running rampant in todays society. These relationship demons are very difficult to deal with and produce such a large amount of pain and suffering. However, there is another form of abuse does not seem to be given the attention that it warrants. This is emotional abuse. Some people have put emotional abuse into the same category as verbal abuse. This is a common misunderstanding, and the victims of emotional abuse need to understand the difference of these two forms of mistreatment and to learn that they are not alone. To realize you are a victim of this abuse can then free you to take steps to leaving the relationship in which you are the wounded. Verbal abuse is the form of abuse in which one person in the relationship verbally attacks the other. There is an endless array of verbal demeaning statements. Commonly known ones are along the lines of Youre stupid, Youre ugly, You cant do anything right. The perpetrator uses insulting language to degrade the victim and produce a feeling of worthlessness. Emotional abuse is quite different. When a person is deeply in love with another, they sometimes form a very strong need to please the other. The perpetrator plays off this need and can wreck havoc in the mind of the victim. There are many variations of emotional abuse; however, we will touch on some of most frequent. One way in which people can be emotionally abusive to another is to deprive them of communication. When the perpetrator is irrationally angry with the other, they may cut off all means of contact. The victim, feeling lost, will repeatedly telephone the other, try to locate them, send endless instant messages, or even send letters via postal mail. The the person responsible for the emotional abuse, in their twisted thinking, will ignore all of the victims efforts, as a form of punishment. This can leave the victim feeling hopeless and confused, thus when the perpetrator finally resumes communication, the victim will actually thank them profusely for recommencing contact! All talk of the fact that the abuser disappeared for that time of punishment is ignored, as the victim tries to please the abuser, and does not wish to prompt another reason for a disappearance. Another commonly used approach of an emotional abuser is to place any and all blame of irrational anger onto the victim. We will use the fictional names of Steve and Kathy to play out a scenario of this type. Steve tells Kathy that he lost quite a bit of money in his attempt to play the stock market. Kathy shows concern and talks to Steve regarding the awful feeling of losing money. Steve responds defensively, accusing Kathy of only caring about money, and loving money more than she loves him. The next week, Steve tells Kathy that he spent a good amount of money playing the lottery and lost it all. Kathy now, based on her experience, tells Steve that it is no big deal and she proceeds to try to change the subject to a more pleasant one. Steve responds in anger, accusing Kathy of not caring at all of his money situation and telling her that she certainly can not be loving towards him if she does not even care that he lost money. Kathy cannot win. No matter what approach she takes to please Steve, he will find a reason to be angry with her. Kathy is now feeling frustrated and confused. She may question Steve on his reasoning, to no avail. No matter what logic she implements, Steve will find a way to warp her words and put only himself in a good light. Kathy is in a no-win situation and she is being emotionally abused. Simply game playing is a very common and widespread form of abuse. This can cover a wide range of behavior. A person may act caring one moment and distant the next. This can force the victim to be constantly in a state of worry and never fully knowing where the relationship stands. A person may endlessly break promises, causing the victim to feel hopeless with no feeling of security or safety from the other persons words. The abuser may casually mention the attention he or she is receiving from members of the opposite sex. This is done in an attempt to cause jealousy from the victim and instill a feeling of low self-esteem. One person in the relationship may constantly threaten to leave forever or never speak again. This threat is empty and is only told to the victim to infuse a panic of a breakup. It is usually futile to try to change the behavior of another person. Someone who is emotionally abusive will most probably continue to be so. A strong desire to change and perhaps a large amount of counseling may produce some beneficial results. However, the majority of emotionally abusive people fail to recognize their behavior as being damaging. Since admitting ones faults is the key to fixing them, it can be a long and usually painful journey to attempt to change the persons core behavior. There is no one who deserves to be on the receiving end of emotional abuse. A relationship with this element will eventually break down the very heart of the victims self-worth and self-esteem. The relationship will persistently be stormy and unstable. The victim will be incessantly in a state of disturbance. Once this form of treatment is identified as abuse, the victim may then understand that he or she need not allow it. When confronted, the abuser may promise to stop his behavior, causing the victim to have a temporary relief, only to find that the emotional abuse continues after a day or two. It is at this time, when the victim realizes the mistreatment they are receiving, that they should strongly consider the option of leaving the relationship. Emotional abuse is abuse. It need not be tolerated. The victim of this abuse may find that the abuser has lowered their self-worth so greatly, that leaving the relationship does not seem to be a viable solution. Speaking with friends and family may help. It is common for victims to keep their experiences of abuse to themselves and expressing the emotional pain they have endured can be freeing. One-on-one counseling may be helpful, as the victim can learn to take control of his or her life. Ideally, if someone recognizes this treatment for what it is, they will take control of their own life immediately. Leaving the abuser and giving themselves the freedom to pursue a meaningful and peaceful life should be their goal. Hydroponics Gardening - An Introduction To Hydroponics Gardening For Beginners (part 13) Oxygen

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

By John R. Haughton How Oxygen Keeps Your Plants Thriving! Oxygen is used in large quantities by plants. If you were to analyse a dried plant you would find that about 45% consisted of Oxygen atoms. Just like humans, plants need fresh air and their cells use Oxygen in the same kind of quantities that ours do. In air conditions with a low concentration of Oxygen, or where the air is poor, plants do not thrive. Those that do manage to eke out an existence remain poor stunted specimens. The leaves of a plant have easy access to Oxygen. They make it as a natural bi-product of the process of producing plant sugarsand breathe it out as waste during the process of photosynthesis. The roots of the plant do not have the same amount of Oxygen available to them. They have to work a lot harder to find enough for their needs. Insufficient Oxygen at the roots will reduce the plants root respiration and result in the shutting down of photosynthesis. A plants growth and its yield are governed by the size and health of its root system. It can only grow to its full potential if the roots have enough Oxygen for their needs. In plants grown hydroponically this essential ingredient is supplied dissolved in the nutrient solution. Dissolved Oxygen in the nutrient solution can be measured by a DO meter. These are available from all good hydroponics equipment suppliers. The amount of Oxygen dissolved in the solution will vary depending on both temperature and pressure. The warmer the water the lower the gaseous content will be. Really cold fresh water has a DO reading of up to 14 ppm or 14mg/litre, while water at 30 degrees centigrade can only hold about 5ppm or 5 mg/l DO. This DO only amounts to a very small percentage of the roots needs. All water culture systems have to utilise some other form of oxygenation for the roots as well as DO in the nutrient. Root systems that have insufficient Oxygen available will soon turn brown and become very sick. We aerate the nutrient in our systems in order to get the best saturation that we can, (from 5ppm to 8ppm) but the main function of this aeration is to kill off the anaerobic bacteria around the roots. Anaerobic bacteria are pathogens that cannot survive in an oxygenated environment; (Anaerobic meaning without air). Because the dissolved Oxygen in the nutrient can only supply about 1% of the roots requirements, the balance must be made up by breathing air. This air is trapped within the soil in conventional gardening and in the growing medium in normal hydroponics systems. This Oxygen search uses up energy that the plant could better use to produce root growth. The only type of system where this does not happen is the aeroponics system. The aerated water being sprayed directly onto the roots, allows the plant to take in free Oxygen from the surrounding air, while still keeping the roots moist and supplied with nutrient. One of the functions of Oxygen is to facilitate the exchange of nutrients and gasses between the plant roots and the surrounding solution. It does this by changing the electrical charges within the water, so allowing the roots to absorb the available nutrients with the least expenditure of energy. For this reason, if no other, the roots need all the Oxygen they can get. Copyright (C) 2004, 2005, 2006. Low Glycemic Index Eating And Road To Weight Loss And Health

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

By Ellen Agius The Glycemic Index (GI) was developed 20 years ago through research on diabetic diets and looking at more complex carbohydrates (sugars) that took longer to process and digest than simple carbohydrates. Therefore this resulted in measuring the Glycemic index of foods. The Glycemic Index (GI) measures the effect of foods on your blood sugar levels. Eating foods with a high glycemic index value will raise the blood sugar level more dramatically than foods with a low glycemic index value. For example, foods that are processed more quickly by the body rank higher on the Index than foods that take longer to be digested by the body. The GI values are a measure of 1 to 100 where pure glucose has a value of 100. Therefore a value of 50 indicates that the food has an effect on blood sugar equal to half that of glucose. The World Health Organisation recently recommended that people based their diets on low glycemic foods. Research has shown that very high glucose levels after meals, called glucose spikes, are damaging to our arteries and various blood vessels, and they promote far too much insulin to be around. Thus the GI is having a pronounced affect on the health community, with many Doctors and nutritionists now recommending the GI to patients with diabetes and/or obesity. Eating foods with a low GI value tend to provide a feeling of fullness for longer and therefore assist those trying to eat less or lose weight. In addition, diabetics can now choose their foods in a more controlled manner. A diet rich in low GI foods is a healthy diet, provided that there is nutritional variety. Individuals who use this low GI diet plan claim they are able to lose weight as well as retain more muscle. When looking at weight loss high GI foods are bad for weight control for two reasons- Firstly, the glucose spikes stimulate hunger because you are getting that dramatic drop in glucose, two hours after eating. By eating low GI foods you feel fuller for longer. Secondly, insulin is a storage hormone that stockpiles nutrients for later use by the body. A high-GI diet causes a lot of insulin to be produced and when you have too much insulin in your body, it makes it easier to store fat and harder to burn it. To successfully lose weight and maintain weight loss you need to base your diet on foods that rank in the low to medium range on the Glycemic index. To start burning fat a diet based on foods ranked at 55 or below is recommended. Dieters should plan to be on this low GI plan for about six months depending on how much weight they want to lose. After that time period they can advance to maintenance and may eat low as well as medium foods according to the glycemic index. It is also important to understand that exercise is an important component of a weight loss plan in order for it to work effectively. Individuals must be dedicated to participating in an active and healthy lifestyle. This is not a diet but a change in lifestyle to create a healthier you. One of the major advantages of eating low GI foods is that it is not restrictive as many other weight loss plans are. For example, you can have some carbs on this diet as long as they are good carbs and they rank low on the glycemic index. In addition, it is perfectly okay for you to eat out. Once you have become familiar with which foods rank low on the index you can then usually find something on any menu which is acceptable according to the low Glycemic Index. The low glycemic way of eating has proven to be quite effective at managing diabetes, promoting weight loss and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. 2 Ways to Safely Transplant Rose Bushes of Any Age

Friday, January 25th, 2008

By Jon Weaver You will occasionally want to move a rose bush from onelocation to another, but fear shocking the bush too much andhaving it die. However, here are two effective ways tominimize the shock to the bush so you can successfully moveit to another, more suitable place in your flower garden. The first, and simpler way, is by driving a spade downvertically to its full length of blade about twelve orfifteen inches from the bush and repeating the process in acircular form until all lateral roots have been cut. Thisshould be done in June or early July and the bush should bemoved two or three weeks later. Dig a sloping hole leading to the vertical spade-cuts on oneside, remove some of the surface soil round the bush toreduce weight, drive the spade under the plant, and gentlylift it in a ball of earth. The ball can be made moreadherent by wetting and dabbing the outside of it. Slide itinto its new hole by way of another sloping cut, fill thespaces round the ball with friable soil and water itheavily. The bush must be pruned and all leaves carefullyclipped off to reduce loss of moisture and consequentshrivelling. You see, by cutting any strong root at a reasonable distancefrom a plant, it forces the growth of many smaller ones ofthe feeding type. Roots feed only through their terminalpoints, and so the greater the number of small fibrous rootsthe better a bush can feed from the soil. The second, and less simple way, is to prepare the rose forthe move by digging a trench in early spring in a semicircleround the bush at a radius of a foot, or slightly more, fromthe stem, depending on the size of the plant. This will cutthe roots in that part. Fill the trench with loam that is ofgood quality but does not contain fermenting manure of anytype. A network of fibrous secondary roots will form andpermeate the rich new soil. After three months, aboutChristmas time, complete the circle in a similar manner. Inthe autumn, about four months later, the bush can be liftedwith a good ball of earth held together by a mass of fibrousroots. The rose bush has been safely root-pruned in either methodof transplanting, and will reduce shock ensuring the plantssurvival. You may be wondering why you would need to usethat second, more involved method, when the first method isso simple. Well, the only time it is necessary is whenmoving a very large old rose plant. So now you have 2 great methods for successfullytransplanting rose bushes. Although you don’t want to do itvery often, feel free to get your flower garden just the wayyou want it! Happy planting. The Swinging Facts

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

By Madeleine Van De Wouw Swinging, also called the alternative or ‘alt’ lifestyle, seems to be increasingly popular among mainstream, middle-aged married couples in America. With this increasing number of people who are into the lifestyle there is also a growing need for interactive ways to meet similar thinking couples. They find the internet to be the ultimate way to interaction. Distance is no longer an issue to meet similar thinking others because of the increasing number of lifestyle lovers who join a worldwide swingers community such as www.sdc.com. According to swingers, the lifestyle can be a solution to (sexual) crises in relationships provided that the emotional bonding is still in tact. According to King (1996) one of the things that normally occurs in a relationship is sexual habituation. This will lead to changes in how we interact with our partners. It will take about three to seven years into a relationship when partners need to increase the levels of stimulation, to obtain the same level of sexual interest in each other. This can be a stressful point in marriages, changes of infidelity are increasing and the divorce rate peaks. Couples who find a way to reconnect both physically and emotionally are more likely to make it through this period. Therefore swinging may be a creative solution. Scientific studies show consistently that swingers bond better in a relationship than monogamous couples. Another interesting outcome of research is that swingers are happier in their relationships than the average person. 60 Percent of swingers said that swinging improved their relationship. Also swingers rate themselves happier (59% against 32% very happy). Overall they consider their lives much more exciting (76% against 54% exciting) than couples who don’t consider swinging as a lifestyle. The origin of swinging goes back to the 1950’s when California military couples gathered at so called key clubs. Here husbands tossed their keys into a large bowl and the wives then drew a set of keys and the owner of those keys became her sexual partner for the night. The media soon gave a name to this key swapping and described it as wife swapping. This early swinging lead in the 1960 to the opening of the first organization for swingers, the “Sexual Freedom League”.at Berkeley, California After that the North American Swing Club Association (NASCA) was formed to give accurate information and education about swinging lifestyles all across America. In later years up untill the present swinging evolved tot a widespread style of living. The uprising of the internet gave swinging an impuls. People from all over the world meet through the world wide web.One of the most popular sites among swingers is www.sdc.com. http://www.mkw-tekst.nl Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Madeleine_Van_De_Wouw http://EzineArticles.com/?The-Swinging-Facts&id=181065 buy viagra in england prescription order sildenafil online viagra pharmacy online viagra purchasing

What to Wear to Work

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

By ChaChanna Simpson As some of you are recent college grads, I understand that you have become accustomed to literally rolling out of bed and grabbing anything off the floor or out the hamper and going to class. And it was great, wasnt it? But you know what? You cant continue to dress that way when you get a job in the corporate work world. Recently it has become clear to me that some of you twentysomethings dont know whats appropriate to wear to an interview or in the workplace. And I am by no means a fashion expert but I can make a suggestion right off the bat: IRON YOUR CLOTHES! Ive seen some of us twentysomethings on the train in the morning, going to work in nice outfits that look like you first balled it up and sat on it, twisted it around itself, jumped on it and then put it on. Please stop that. And for those of you who have to wash your hair every morning, please take the time to blow dry it out. And my people who sport a fro: comb it, shape it and make sure there isnt any lint in it. Really people, it doesnt take that much to make yourself look presentable. I know what youre thinking: Im not going to succumb to the way society wants me to dress. But if you desire to make a career out of your job or want to be considered for promotions or taken seriously, you are going to have to play the part. You wouldnt expect to become a professional swimmer if instead of wearing the swimsuit you wore a sweat suit. So why would you wear a dingy shirt or tight skirt to work in a professional office? Now, I realize that not every office has a business casual dress code. Some of you may be lucky enough to wear jeans to work. But in the event your offices dress code is strictly enforced and you havent a clue as to what to wear, I aim to help you out. In general, clothes made of silk, rayon, silk blends, wool blends, polyesters or other synthetic material (not spandex) are good choices. Women can wear pants, slacks, pants and skirt suits, dress shirts, skirts and dresses. The general rule is that dresses and skirts should be the length of your fingertips at your side or below the knee. Let me explain. If you stand up straight and place your hands at your side, your skirt should either meet or pass your fingertips. Please do not walk up into peoples job wearing a skintight above the knee cocktail dress. It may get you looks from the guys but it will not get you respect, and wearing it to an interview with fishnet stockings (which are not acceptable with any outfit for work) wont get you the job either. Desiree Spivey, CEO, of Beauticontrol, http://www.beautipage.com/desireespivey/, says a reason why people dress inappropriately for work is because everyone is a too fashionable. They cant differentiate whether they are going to work or going out to the club. This is true in the case of women. How many of you have seen someone wearing that tight skirt and low-cut off the shoulder shirt to work? I know I have. For men, slacks, khaki pants, shirts, polo shirts, pullover sweaters and sports jackets are a great choice for the business casual office. Besides having a clean dress shirt, you must also wear a tee-shirt under your shirt, NOT a tank top. No matter what type a shirt a man wears, if he is not wearing a tee shirt, the dress shirt will get soiled, says Lori Lepage, President, Living Out Loud, Inc., http://www.livingoutloudinc.com/. And as long as youre not wearing sneakers, flip-flops or any kind of slippers then youll be fine. LePage says for women, the shoes should match the belt and if you are not wearing a belt, the shoes should match your skirt or pants. Spivey says for men, shoes should match the socks. One last thing I learned that I wanted to share with you is: the bottom of your pants should meet the top of the heel to the mid part of the heel of your shoe, anything over that is too long, says, Lepage. I really learned a great deal in writing this article. I pray some of you have learned something as well. Because the next time I see one of you looking a mess I am going to call you on it. And Id hope youd do the same for me. ChaChanna Simpson is the editor and publisher of Twentity.com, an ezine for twentysomethings. Visit http://www.twentity.com. Do You Prefer TRADITION Over Truth?

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

By David Ben-Ariel If anybody is honestly interested in knowing whether or not this or that doctrine is actually biblical or merely traditional, all they have to do is objectively search the Scriptures like the noble Bereans did in Acts 17:11, after hearing Paul out, to see whether what he taught was true. Examples: The Church of God teaches, like Jesus, “the meek shall inherit the Earth.” Traditional Churchianity denies it and says folks “go to Heaven.” They have many such misunderstandings, idolatrous traditions and pagan myths. The Church of God keeps the same seventh day Sabbath as Yeshua and the early Church of God, both converted Jews, Israelites and Gentiles. The professing Christian world, under influence of Constantine — not Christ — keep pagan SUNday. The Bible only states the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord, the Lord’s Day, and that God is consistent and doesn’t change but warned that some would “think to change the times and the laws” (Daniel 7:25). The Sabbath-keeping Church of God keeps the same biblical festivals, the holy days of the LORD, that Yeshua and the early Church of God kept (both converted Jews, Israelites and Gentiles), with a new and improved understanding, in spirit and in truth, not just according to the letter of the law. Traditional Churchianity is hostile to God’s holy days and have replaced them with their pagan Roman hollow days, even though biblical prophecy shows such baptized paganism will soon be history as Yeshua, the King of Israel, teaches Torah from Jerusalem and commands all nations to observe the “Jewish holidays.” It is because of such glaring differences between TRADITIONAL Christianity (following its Roman leaders and Gentilized Jesus), and the Sabbath-keeping Church of God following the Jewish Jesus, exposed by the plain truth teachings of Herbert W. Armstrong, that Mr. Armstrong was so hated by many of the angry religious leaders who couldn’t refute what he said and weren’t prepared to change for the better. They chose tradition over truth, just like many religious leaders did in the days of the Prophets and in the days of Yeshua. Nothing new under the sun.
